- Description: ChatGPT 6 Astra can now control your desktop and apps by sight — like a human looking at the screen. I tested it, and it's the strongest model right now. Here's why it's a real step forward, and why you should still run it in an isolated environment before handing it all your data.

ChatGPT 6 Astra is incredible. God, you just sit there, tell it to do something on your desktop, and it just does it. It can even "check my PRs" — it opens the browser by itself, goes to GitHub, opens the PRs, and checks them. Just from a simple sentence.

That said, this is probably something to use for fun, or to spin up a VM and use it in an isolated environment. Because handing all your data to OpenAI? That's a no-go.

But make no mistake — ChatGPT 6 Astra is currently the strongest thing out there.

It can work *with* you, doing other things in parallel. And because it operates directly on your own machine's environment, no website can block it.

The great part is that it can use dev tools, game engines, 3D apps "by sight" — like a human looking at the screen and controlling things. It's not just running commands anymore. That gets rid of the whole "I don't know what the agent is doing" problem, and it also gets rid of the problem where *I* can see something but the agent has no MCP/API/Shell, so it can't act on it.

What this means is that other players — Kimi, Deepseek, Claude, Qwen, GLM, etc. — will catch up soon, too. Honestly, until now every model failed at UI control. Now it's been cracked — and it controls fast, smooth, and precise. I'd call this a real step forward. I only tested it briefly, but the way 6-Astra understood my intent, I have to say — it's like a human understanding. Sometimes explaining my intent to a human is harder than this.

Bottom line: from now until the end of the year, the main task is just to wait for the open-weights models to catch up. Handing all your info to ChatGPT is not acceptable. If you're going to use it, remember to create an isolated environment for it to run in!

If you're wealthy, buy a separate desktop/laptop and use *only* that machine for the agent to control the UI. Otherwise, use a VM.
